Segment 1 The Segment one class or the level 1 license is the first of three steps a teen needs to obtain before he/she could go out on the road by themselves. This class includes a total of 24 hours of class time and 6 hours of behind -the-wheel (BTW) instruction, and 4 hours of observation in the car. In class, students will watch videos and power points about driving safely and how to pass the road test. Students will also be given short quizzes every week to get them ready for the final exam. BTW instruction includes learning how to park and driving on streets and highways. Requirements/Privileges A student must be at least 14 years and 8 months of age to be eligible for the Segment 1 class. Hours The Segment 1 class runs Mon-Thurs 5:00-7:00 PM. For three weeks. During this time, a student will be randomly selected to complete their 6 hours of BTW instruction. Schedule
